On April 18, two major solar thermal projects led by Three Gorges Energy achieved critical milestones ahead of schedule:
- Hami Integrated Energy Demonstration Project (100 MW Solar Thermal): The cold and hot molten salt tanks, constructed by Shanghai Lanbin Petrochemical Equipment Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Lanpec Technologies), successfully passed the hydrostatic test (water-filling test) ahead of plan.
- Golmud 100 MW Solar Thermal Project: Part of the Haixi Base 1.6 GW Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal Complex (developed by Three Gorges New Energy Golmud Power Generation Co., Ltd.), the cold and hot molten salt tanks also completed final handover acceptance on the same day.
Both project teams overcame extreme seasonal weather conditions and challenges such as high-altitude hypoxia to deliver these milestones early, demonstrating exceptional engineering execution.

The success of the hydrostatic test for the Hami project’s molten salt tanks verified their structural integrity, airtightness, and compliance with design specifications, ensuring long-term operational stability and reliability. Meanwhile, the Golmud project’s seamless acceptance marks another critical step toward full commissioning.
These achievements underscore Three Gorges Energy’s leadership in advancing large-scale renewable energy projects and accelerating China’s transition to a low-carbon energy future.
