Xinjiang Jinghe Xinhua 100MW Solar Thermal Project Achieves Successful Generator Rotor Installation at One Go

On January 30, the 100MW solar thermal power generation unit (Unit 1) of the Jinghe Solar Thermal Storage New Energy Integrated Base Project successfully completed the installation of its 100MW generator rotor at one go. This marks a major milestone in the installation of the project’s main equipment, laying a solid foundation for subsequent unit commissioning and grid-connected power generation.

The project utilizes the QF-100-2-13.8 type, a concealed-pole, two-pole, three-phase synchronous generator manufactured by Dongfang Electric Corporation Dongfang Electric Machinery Co., Ltd. The rotor of Unit 1’s generator measures 10 meters in length and weighs 30 metric tons. The rotor installation process involved multi-disciplinary coordination, presenting significant challenges, high risks, and complex operational procedures.

Project Overview: The Jinghe Xinhua New Energy Co., Ltd. “Solar Thermal Storage New Energy” Integrated Base Project is developed, invested in, and operated by Jinghe Xinhua New Energy Co., Ltd. Its main construction includes a 100MW molten salt tower solar thermal storage power station, a 900MW centralized photovoltaic power station, and related auxiliary facilities. The solar thermal project is designed with 16,179 medium-sized heliostats and features a thermal storage duration of 8 hours. It is PC-contracted by a consortium of PowerChina Sichuan Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shouhang Hi-Tech Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 100 million kWh of electricity annually. It will supply substantial clean energy to the Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, promote local tourism, and boost local economic development.
