During the May Day holiday, the frontline teams of Northwest Electric Power Construction Third Engineering Co., Ltd. (Northwest EPCC Third) steadily advanced project milestones, with significant progress achieved in key construction phases of the Datang Shichengzi Solar Thermal Power Project and the Tangshan Haitai Solar Thermal + Photovoltaic (PV) Integrated Project.
Datang Shichengzi Solar Thermal Power Project
To seize the prime construction period and accelerate progress toward project goals, the entire team of the Datang Shichengzi project dedicated the May Day holiday to frontline work with the spirit of “seizing every minute and overcoming difficulties.” Under strict safety and quality control, they efficiently advanced key construction phases, achieving the following milestones:
- The 3.5m-level concrete pouring conditions for the water treatment workshop were successfully met.
- The foundation pouring for a 500m³ water tank was completed.
- The foundation construction for the air-cooled power distribution room successfully emerged above ground (“out of zero meters”).
- Concrete pouring for the molten salt pump support structure from 7.9m to 14.4m was completed smoothly.
- High-quality steel reinforcement binding for the accident oil pool was finished.

As previously reported, the 1,000MW Datang Shichengzi “Solar Thermal + PV” Integrated Clean Energy Demonstration Project is located in the central Hami Basin on the southern slope of the Karlick Mountains in eastern Tianshan, a desert-go desert-gobi terrain with vast open space and convenient transportation. The project includes 900MW of PV and 100MW of solar thermal power, with new 220kV and 110kV booster stations and an 8km 110kV transmission line.
The 100MW solar thermal project’s concentrating solar thermal system adopts the molten salt linear Fresnel technology route. The EPC general contractor is a consortium of Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (China Power Engineering Consulting Group) and Northwest EPCC Third, with Lanzhou Dacheng Technology Co., Ltd. responsible for supplying the concentrating solar thermal system equipment.
Tangshan Haitai Solar Thermal + PV Integrated Project
During the May Day holiday, the Tangshan Haitai project team capitalized on the prime construction period. After the steam blowing process concluded, they rapidly initiated system restoration work. Technical personnel, adhering to the attitude of “seizing every minute and pursuing perfection,” completed the restoration of the shaft seal system and auxiliary steam system, as well as the removal of temporary pipelines.

As previously reported, the 100MW solar thermal project of Tangshan Haitai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.’s Solar Thermal + PV Integrated Project is located in Qiquanhu Town, north of Gaochang District, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is one of four solar thermal + PV integrated projects in Xinjiang’s second batch of market-oriented grid-connected new energy projects in Turpan City, with Northwest Electric Power Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. (China Energy Construction Group) serving as the general contractor.
The project adopts a solar thermal + PV integrated model, consisting of 100MW solar thermal and 900MW PV. The 100MW solar thermal power project uses a tower-type concentrating solar thermal system with a heliostat field area of 524,790 m², 12-hour thermal energy storage, a receiver center elevation of 190 meters, and a rated thermal output of 314MWt. The civil and installation works for the 100MW solar thermal project were awarded to Northwest EPCC Third.
