NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced a major tender for developing a large Battery Energy Storage System at the Khavda Solar Park. The company has released an Invitation for Bids for an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction package to set up a 100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System. The notice was issued on 18 November 2025, and the detailed bidding documents were made available from 20 May 2025 on the government and NTPC tender portals. This tender marks an important step toward building advanced storage infrastructure to support India’s growing renewable energy capacity.
The project aims to install a 16.7 MW / 100 MWh grid-connected storage system based on Vanadium Redox Flow technology. This technology has been chosen because it offers long operational life and strong cycling performance, which are essential for large-scale grid use. The contractor selected through this bidding process will be responsible for the complete turnkey delivery of the system. This means the contractor must handle the full process from design and engineering to supply, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning.
