Integrated with 5MW/20MWh All-Vanadium Flow Battery System! Wuwei Smart Green Energy Sishui Town 105MW/420MWh Independent Shared Energy Storage Project (Phase I) Commences Operation

On June 29, the Phase I project of Wuwei Smart Green Energy Sishui Town 105MW/420MWh independent shared energy storage facility—constructed under an EPC contract by Gansu Electric Power Design Institute under China Energy Engineering Group—officially commenced operation.

As previously reported, Phase I features a planned capacity of 105MW/420MWh, comprising a 100MW/400MWh lithium iron phosphate battery system and a 5MW/20MWh all-vanadium flow battery system. Both energy storage solutions adopt outdoor containerized layouts. The project includes a newly built 330kV booster station with two outgoing lines: one connecting to Tumen Substation and the other to Huanghuatan No.2 Booster Station.

Upon commissioning, the facility will operate under the unified dispatch of Gansu Power Grid, participating in multiple ancillary services including grid peak shaving, frequency regulation, and emergency backup power supply. This will significantly expand renewable energy integration capabilities. After grid connection, the project will serve as Gulang County’s “super power bank,” effectively alleviating renewable energy transmission bottlenecks and grid peak-shaving pressures. It will actively promote renewable energy consumption in Gulang, reduce grid load stress, and bolster regional energy security.
