China Energy Engineering Digital Technology Group Signs Contract for 660MW Compressed Air Energy Storage Project in Dunhuang, Gansu

On July 23, Song Yuwen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of China Energy Engineering Digital Technology Group, held talks with Wang Yanqun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiuquan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee, and witnessed the signing of a project cooperation agreement between the two parties.

Song Yuwen, on behalf of the Digital Technology Group, expressed gratitude to the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for their long-term trust and support. He emphasized that Dunhuang, as a strategic key area for the Digital Technology Group to promote new energy construction in northwest China, boasts unique first-mover advantages and demonstration effects in building a new energy system and a new power system. He stated that the Digital Technology Group will rely on China Energy Engineering’s compressed air energy storage system solutions to construct a compressed air energy storage project with higher parameters, larger capacity, and higher efficiency in Dunhuang. Relying on this project, it will strive to build the “Dunhuang All-Green Power Station Demonstration Base,” helping Dunhuang transform from a “cultural highland” to an “energy innovation highland.” The signing of this cooperation agreement will surely further promote in-depth and pragmatic cooperation between the two parties in areas such as strategic co-planning, innovation mutual promotion, and industrial co-construction, achieving a leap and upgrading of industrial quality.

Wang Yanqun extended a warm welcome to Song Yuwen and his delegation. He noted that Dunhuang enjoys superior wind and solar resources and distinct geographical advantages, with huge potential for new energy development and utilization. The Digital Technology Group has rich practical experience in the field of compressed air energy storage, strong scientific and technological strength, and full industrial chain business advantages. The two parties form strategic complementarity in core capabilities and resource endowments, with significant synergistic effects. He stressed that Dunhuang City will fully support the project’s implementation and looks forward to the early start of construction, which will inject strong impetus into the construction of a new power system in Dunhuang and even the entire Gansu region.

Lyu Gang, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of the Digital Technology Group, and Zhang Junjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee, Party Member of the Dunhuang Municipal Government, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Municipal Industrial Park, and Director of the Management Committee, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties respectively.

Participants in the talks included Wu Erhan, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Dunhuang Municipal Political Consultative Conference; Fu Hu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of the Dunhuang Municipal Government; and relevant department heads from the Dunhuang Municipal Party Committee Office, Political Consultative Conference Office, Development and Reform Bureau, Natural Resources Bureau, Water Affairs Bureau, Commerce Bureau, Transportation Bureau, Cultural Relics Bureau, Energy and Project Construction Service Center, and Shazhou Energy Development Company. From the Digital Technology Group, participants included Xiao Shaohui, Chief Information Officer and Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Digital Intelligence New Energy Company; Peng Lihong, Investment Director and General Manager of the Investment and Finance Division; and relevant personnel from the Development Planning Department, General Office, Digital Intelligence New Energy Company, and New Energy Engineering Company of China Power Engineering Northwest Institute.

The signed project is located in Dunhuang, Jiuquan, Gansu, and is an important part of the “Dunhuang All-Green Power Station Base.” Adopting “China Energy Engineering’s compressed air energy storage system solutions,” the project has a single-unit power of 660MW, creating three “world records” in single-unit power, energy storage scale, and gas storage space. The improvement of the project’s overall scale is both a major systemic breakthrough and an all-round upgrade of compressed air energy storage technology, which will surely further promote the compressed air energy storage industry to reduce the cost per kilowatt, improve system conversion efficiency, and accelerate industrial development.

The All-Green Power Station Base is a new energy development and utilization system solution pioneered by China Energy Engineering Digital Technology Group. It forms an all-green power station system through the in-depth integration of large-scale clean energy power generation technologies and new long-duration physical energy storage technologies. With the 660MW compressed air energy storage demonstration project in Jiuquan Dunhuang as the core, the Dunhuang All-Green Power Station Base will become an integrated all-green power station base featuring “wind power, photovoltaic, diversified energy storage, and digital regulation.”
