World’s First Megawatt-Scale Application of Aqueous Organic Flow Battery! Ordos Wangongcheng Grid-Side Energy Storage Station Commences Commercial Operation

On June 29, the Ordos Wangongcheng 200MW/800MWh grid-side energy storage station project—invested and constructed by Inner Mongolia Power Grid Energy Storage Co., Ltd.—successfully completed three full charge-discharge cycles over 72 hours of continuous operation. It obtained approval documents from Inner Mongolia Power Dispatching and Control Company certifying completion of independent new energy storage system trial operation. On June 30, the project entered Inner Mongolia’s electricity spot market with trading authorization, officially commencing commercial operation.

The station combines 195MW lithium iron phosphate batteries with 5MW aqueous organic flow batteries, delivering a total 200MW/800MWh independent grid-side energy storage system for Inner Mongolia’s power grid. Notably, this marks the world’s first megawatt-scale application of aqueous organic flow battery technology, representing a milestone achievement for the industry.
