On August 8, 2025, the scorching sun poured down on the site of PowerChina Feicheng Salt Cavern Compressed Air Energy Storage Project, where an exciting “topping-out ceremony” was held warmly. The main structure of the main powerhouse of Unit #2 successfully topped out. This significant progress, like a dazzling milestone in the project’s journey, marks that the project has reached another key node following the topping out of the main powerhouse of Unit #1 on June 26, striding forward towards full commissioning and operation.

Unit #2 is invested by PowerChina (Feicheng) New Energy Co., Ltd., supervised by Shanghai Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd., and contracted by PowerChina Shandong Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Co., Ltd. Multiple parties have joined hands to jointly outline this energy blueprint. The project uses underground salt caverns as natural “gas storage reservoirs” and is equipped with advanced 300MW-class non-supplementary firing advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage technology, becoming a highly watched new star in the energy sector.
