CEEC CEPEC-Led Solar Thermochemical Hydrogen Production Project Approved

Recently, the national key research and development plan intergovernmental international scientific and technological innovation cooperation project—”Key Technologies Research and Demonstration of Secondary Reflection Tower Solar Thermochemical High-Efficiency Hydrogen Production,” led by CEEC CEPEC, has been officially approved for implementation.

This project is the first intergovernmental international scientific and technological innovation cooperation project under the national key research and development plan to be led by CEEC CEPEC.

The project focuses on the development of green hydrogen production technology using clean energy. Starting from the need to improve the efficiency of solar thermochemical hydrogen production systems, it aims to establish high-temperature, high-concentration-ratio reaction conditions. Based on this, the project will conduct research, development, and validation of high-performance, low-degradation reaction materials, as well as integrated design of efficient reactors, to achieve scaled-up system demonstration and integration. An evaluation model will also be applied to assess its economic feasibility and application potential.

The project will prioritize breakthroughs in key technologies such as solar concentrating and heat collection systems, thermochemical hydrogen production reaction materials, high-efficiency hydrogen production reactors, system simulation, and integration. It will also achieve validation through a scaled-up demonstration platform, providing support for future engineering applications.
