In January 2026, significant progress was made in the fields of concentrated solar power (CSP) generation and molten salt thermal energy storage, with several key projects achieving major milestones.
In the CSP sector, the Shigatse integrated project comprising 100 MW CSP, 100 MW PV, and 800 MW wind power finalized its EPC+O contractor. Additionally, the Abaxian County 2,000 MW “CSP+” project completed the bidding for feasibility study report preparation and preliminary technical services.
In molten salt thermal energy storage, the Dushanzi Petrochemical Thermal Power Plant’s PV molten salt storage project identified the winning bidder for its steam generation system, while projects in Qinghai Province also advanced rapidly.
According to partial statistics from CSPPLAZA, a total of 15 key bids across 14 CSP/molten salt thermal energy storage-related projects were awarded in January 2026.
