California Community Power (CC Power) and Hydrostor have signed an agreement for CC Power\u2019s procurement of a 50 MW \/ 400 MWh portion of Hydrostor\u2019s proposed 500 MW \/ 4,000 MWh Willow Rock long-duration energy storage project in Kern County, CA. The Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) project will be capable of providing 8 hours of energy storage capacity for the benefit of 6 of CC Power\u2019s member community choice aggregators (CCAs), including CleanPowerSF, Peninsula Clean Energy, Redwood Coast Energy Authority, San Jose Clean Energy, Silicon Valley Clean Energy, and Valley Clean Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Willow Rock project will help meet CC Power\u2019s members\u2019 long-duration storage requirements as set forth in the California Public Utilities Commission\u2019s Mid-Term Reliability procurement directives and will contribute to their resource adequacy compliance obligations by providing reliable, emissions-free, long-duration storage capacity to the California grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The governing boards of each participating member will follow their local review and approval processes for the contract and associated agreements for the Willow Rock project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
