The \u20ac100 million (USD 117 million), 100 MW site will have a capacity of up to 470.4 MWh and will be connected to the 110 kV high-voltage grid of distribution system operator Mitnetz Strom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commissioning is planned for the first quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development of the storage project to reach construction was carried out by Energisto. Lichtblick, a German subsidiary of Dutch energy company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ess-news.com\/2025\/07\/16\/eneco-and-ep-nl-to-build-200-mwh-battery-at-enecogen-power-plant-in-rotterdam\/\">Eneco<\/a>, founded the joint venture Giga Charge with the Munich-based company last year to advance the development of large battery storage systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThanks to the considerable four hour storage depth, the plant can react flexibly to the requirements of the electricity system of the future,\u201d said Lichtblick COO Enno Wolf at the construction starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The storage system will be marketed by Eneco Energy Trade, also owned by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ess-news.com\/2024\/05\/16\/eneco-corre-energy-partner-on-compressed-air-energy-storage-project\/\">Eneco<\/a>. According to the company, it is already the market leader in Belgium and the Netherlands in the marketing of energy flexibility and has about 950 MW of contracted battery capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor the energy transition, we need large amounts of flexible capacities.
