1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>South Australian (SA) thermal energy storage company 1414 Degrees is progressing the development of a two projects including a battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Aurora Energy Precinct (AEP) in SA, for joint venture SiliconAurora, and is independently developing a long duration&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pv-magazine-australia.com\/press-releases\/1414-degrees-acquisition-of-technology-licence-and-1-2-million-placement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thermal energy storage<\/a>&nbsp;(TES) facility, with eyes on providing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pv-magazine-australia.com\/2025\/10\/10\/700-mw-firm-energy-by-2031-targeted-in-south-australias-first-ferm-tender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">firmed power<\/a>&nbsp;for data centres, leveraging the site\u2019s high-capacity transmission access and existing fibre-optic connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\" id=\"attachment_115356\"><img decoding=\"async\" north of Adelaide, north of Port Augusta in SA\u2019s Upper Spencer Gulf Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), the Precinct intersects with a new high-voltage Northern Transmission Project (NTP) scheduled to be completed by 2030, and improves the option of supplying firm renewable power to the site and via the grid to the National Electricity Market (NEM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Stage 1 BESS approval and execution of connection agreement are the next steps, along with final investment decision for the BESS procurement and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1414 Degrees also plans to engage&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pv-magazine-australia.com\/2025\/10\/15\/dealing-with-demands-of-power-hungry-data-centres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data centres<\/a>&nbsp;and other high
