{"id":859,"date":"2025-11-25T01:14:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T01:14:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.esplaza.com.cn\/?p=859"},"modified":"2025-11-25T01:14:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T01:14:29","slug":"manchester-breaks-ground-on-worlds-largest-liquid-air-energy-storage-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.esplaza.com.cn\/index.php\/2025\/11\/25\/manchester-breaks-ground-on-worlds-largest-liquid-air-energy-storage-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester breaks ground on world\u2019s largest liquid air energy storage plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/en.esplaza.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-46.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-860\" srcset=\"https:\/\/en.esplaza.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-46.png 750w, https:\/\/en.esplaza.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-46-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Highview has officially broken ground on its new liquid air energy storage (LAES) facility in Carrington, Manchester, with Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham marking the start of construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant will be the world\u2019s largest commercial-scale LAES project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park was attended by Highview\u2019s Chief Executive Richard Butland, Chairman Colin Roy and Andrew Western, MP for Stretford and Urmston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scheduled to be&nbsp;<strong>operational by late 2026, the facility will provide 300MWh of storage and 50MW of output for six hours, supplying clean energy for the equivalent of 480,000 homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will connect to local transmission infrastructure and include a stability island to support grid resilience and reduce the risk of outages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Andy Burnham said: \u201cStoring renewable power so it\u2019s there when people need it will be essential for Greater Manchester in the years ahead.
