On July 23, the 220kV step-up substation of the Lufeng Vanadium Flow Energy Storage Project, constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation, laying a solid foundation for the full commissioning and operation of the project.

As Yunnan’s first long-duration vanadium flow energy storage project, the Lufeng Vanadium Flow Energy Storage Project is located in Lufeng City, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. With a total investment of 1.227 billion yuan, it covers an area of 53.09 mu, boasting a construction scale of 100MW/400MWh and an average annual charge-discharge capacity of 240 million kWh. Its construction scope includes energy storage battery compartments, PCS step-up compartments, equalization cabinets, step-up substation, transmission lines, and other facilities.

During the grid-connection and commissioning of the step-up substation, the project team of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau faced challenges such as tight schedules, heavy tasks, and high technical requirements. The constructors worked around the clock (24 hours non-stop). Leveraging their rich experience and exquisite skills, they advanced all work in an orderly manner. After approximately 19 hours of arduous efforts, they finally ensured the smooth grid-connection and commissioning of the step-up substation.
