EPCG and E2S Power signed a Memorandum on the joint development and application of thermal energy storage technology

The executive directors of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) and the company E2S Power, Ivan Bulatović and Saša Savić, signed a memorandum on the joint development, production and application of thermal energy storage.

During the signing, organized as part of the investment conference called Smart Growth, Green Future: Accelerating Investment in Montenegro, Bulatović said that the memorandum represents an important step towards the energy transition and modernization of the production system, especially in the context of the operation of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TPP).

“The signing of the memorandum confirms EPCG’s commitment to actively participate in the decarbonization and modernization of production capacities. By partnering with E2S Power, we are opening up the possibility of applying advanced technologies that will enable more efficient use of energy and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions,” said Bulatović.

Savić announced that he was satisfied with the start of cooperation with EPCG and added that Montenegro has the potential to become an example of a successful energy transition in the region.

“Our thermal energy storage technology TWEST provides concrete solutions for the decarbonization of thermal power plants and the stabilization of power systems that increasingly rely on renewable sources. We believe that cooperation with EPCG will contribute to the achievement of Montenegro’s goals in the field of energy efficiency and climate neutrality,” said Savić.

E2S Power is a global leader in the field of long-term storage of thermal energy at high temperatures, with its own patented TWEST technology /Thermal Waste to Energy Storage Technology/.

The memorandum signing ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

“His presence further confirms the strategic importance of the memorandum for the future development of the energy sector in Montenegro and the direction in which EPCG is moving towards a green transition and sustainable growth,” EPCG said.
